Dem senator: Trump’s DACA repeal motivated by white nationalism

Senator Bob Menendez, D-N.J., took shots at the president and conservatives Wednesday following the Trump administration’s announcement that the DACA program is being rescinded.

The New Jersey Democrat cited racial animus as Trump’s motive in repealing Obama’s unconstitutional executive order, calling Trump a full-on racist bigot. Said Menendez, in an issued statement:

“President Trump promised to do right by our nation’s DREAMers, but with this decision he has chosen once again to cloak his presidency with a white nationalist flag instead of the diverse fabric of our multicultural American society,” Menendez said, characterizing the reversal of President Obama’s illegal amnesty policy as “a mistake of historic proportions.” (Emphasis added.)

He called on on congressional Republicans to pass the DREAM Act, which would codify amnesty into law, without “unrelated provisions or poison pills” (code language for conservative reform ideas like Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton’s RAISE Act).

Menendez further attacked conservatives’ opposition to a chaotic, incomprehensible immigration system, stating “I personally worked for years to convince the Obama administration to create the DACA program and I refuse to let its beneficiaries be further victimized in the name of nativist fear mongering.” (Emphasis added.)

Senator Menendez has a lot on his plate with his impending corruption trial, yet he still took time out of his day to defend a lawless, unconstitutional executive order, smearing conservatives who disagree as automatic bigots. Shameless. Talk about fear-mongering, hate, and division ...
