The latest media smear job against Brett Kavanaugh falls flat on its face

The following is an excerpt from Blaze Media’s daily Capitol Hill Brief email newsletter:

Over the weekend, the New York Times ran a story — promoted with a bizarre tweet — about Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh that revisited some of the still-unsupported claims made during his confirmation process, along with a story that was “shopped to Senate Democrats” last year but not reported until recently. The NYT also left out that the supposed victim in the most recent tale says herself that she has no memory of the incident and wouldn’t talk about it. The newspaper later issued a correction to that effect.

But, regardless of the correction and the lack of evidence, the apparent smear did what smears are meant to do. Democrats used the “news” to make political hay and call for the justice’s impeachment. In related news, the sun rose in the east this morning and water is wet.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump commented that Kavanaugh “should start suing people for libel, or the Justice Department should come to his rescue” and called his appointee “an innocent man who has been treated HORRIBLY.

Here’s hoping that irresponsible legacy media treatment of unsubstantiated allegations against Justice Brett Kavanaugh don’t turn into an annual late-summer tradition in the Swamp.
