Rick Sanchez Gives First Interview Since CNN Firing: 'I Screwed Up

"It's tough."

A very contrite Rick Sanchez appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America" this morning to discuss his controversial comments about Jon Stewart and his subsequent firing from CNN.

"It's tough. I screwed up, George," he said to interviewer George Stephanopoulos. While not defensive, he did offer a new reason for the comments beside being tired and overworked: he wanted to get to his daughter's softball game and was getting impatitent.

Still, he admits he said some things he "shouldn't have said," adding that "not only were they wrong, but they were offensive" and people should know that's "not what I meant and I apologize." However he did degenerate a little into race speech, noting that there are a lack of minorities on primetime cable newscasts. The interview is in two parts below:
