Allen West Slams Geithner: 'When You Open That Refrigerator Door the Lights Don't Come On
August 08, 2011
"He should move on and we should have someone else."
Many liberals, like John Kerry, are brazenly trying to point the finger at the Tea Party for the recent downgrade of U.S. debt, but Congressman Allen West is having none of it.
Speaking to Fox News, Rep. West dismissed comments blaming the Tea Party as '"insidious," and placed all the blame on Democrats who refuse to cut spending and continue to pretend -- for political reasons -- that taxes are the answer to the debt crisis. Rep. West rightly pointed out that when the Democrats took over Congress in 2007, the debt was $8.6 trillion. Today it is $14.5 trillion.
The Florida Congressman said it is possible for the U.S. to begin getting its fiscal house in order, but stated he has no patience for those who continue to press wrongheaded policies. West singles out Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner for particularly harsh criticism, saying that:
“When you open that refrigerator, the lights don’t come on. So, I really think that he should move on and we should have someone else.”
