I've weighed in with my thoughts on last night's debate, but I'd be remiss if I didn't also share this moment from Newt Gingrich, a veteran of Capitol Hill, commenting on how congressional Republicans and Democrats have dealt with today's most important issues. I think he nails it on the head: this whole debt "super committee" idea is DUMB.
Responding to a question from moderator Bret Baier about whether they'd support a hypothetical debt deal that cut spending but also raised taxes. Each of the candidates signaled they'd walk away from such a deal, but a look of frustration crossed Gingrich's face and caught Baier's eye. “I think this 'super committee' is about as dumb an idea as Washington has come up with in my lifetime," Gingrich said.
