Video: Ron Paul slams ‘Al Gore’s Texas cheerleader,’ a.k.a. Rick Perry
September 06, 2011
Yowza. Is there any bigger scarlet letter in conservative politics than being linked to Al Gore?
I'll really have to give that some thought, but in the meantime, enjoy Ron Paul's new sucker-punch advertisement aimed squarely at Texas "cheerleader" Rick Perry:
Critical and emasculating -- it has the makings of a great political ad. But as CNN has pointed out, Perry wasn't a cheerleader, he was a "yell leader." There's a difference, apparently.
It's true: Rick Perry was an Al Gore supporter back in the day, and if you're questioning a candidate's loyalty to principles over party, this ad scores some points for Paul who links himself with Ronald Reagan. But while Paul and Reagan may share similar views of small government, it should be noted that their views on other issues -- including foreign affairs -- seem considerably far apart.
