Whatever': Greta Confronts Santorum Over 'Crazy' Supporter & His Sex Joke

"It was a stupid joke."

The political news yesterday was dominated by Santorum supporter Foster Friess and his awkward sex joke on MSNBC involving aspirin. You can watch it here. And now, Rick Santorum is being forced to answer for it. Fox's Greta Van Susteren was the first to take the GOP frontrunner to task last night. And in a sense, he wasn't having it.

"Alright, now I know you certainly didn't say that-- okay, you shake your head," she said as Santorum started doing just that after Van Susteren played the audio. "Alright, you want to say something about it."

"Look," said Santorum, "I'm not going to be responsible for everybody who's-- any supporter of mine and what they say. I'm not going to play that game."

After a disgusted Van Susteren went on to call Friess "creepy" and asked if Santorum would correct Friess, Santorum elaborated.

“Foster is known in political circles as telling a lot of jokes and some of them are not particularly funny, this one was not," he said. "He is not creepy. he is a good man, a great philanthropist, a very successful businessman. Told a bad off-color joke and he shouldn’t have done it. That is his business. It doesn’t, in my opinion, reflect on the campaign or me because he wasn’t doing it as part of our campaign.”

"Whatever,” responded Van Susteren, after correcting herself that the joke was creepy and not Friess himself. “I don’t know, the only thing I know is what he said. Right now, he is 0 and 1 with me.”

Santorum concluded: "It was a stupid joke."
