Ron Paul people fight for the right to party

Supporters of Ron Paul are trying to host a festival the weekend before the Republican National Convention to honor the Texas congressman but have run into a roadblock: RNC organizers, who have control of the fairgrounds in Tampa for the convention, haven't approved the request.

"We do have the request," said James Davis. "We have an extraordinary amount for requests for the venues we do have. We're going through and making assignments and no one has turned down any assignment yet."

Bryan Siemon, spokesman for the Paul group, said he's worried by the time his group's request is approved, it'll be too late to prepare a festival with all the bells and whistles (music and comedians) fit for a Ron Paul festival. "If we can't get this date secured, it will make it impossible to put on a festival of this large size," Siemon said.

The convention is planned for Aug. 27-Aug. 30.
