We Don't Want Him Back: U.K. Citizens Launch Piers Morgan Counter-Petition

Immediately following the horrifying attack in Newtown, Conn., that left 26 people dead, including 20 children, CNN host and noted gun control advocate Piers Morgan used his position in the media to call for stricter gun laws and to berate supporters of the Second Amendment.

Morgan’s repeated and increasingly relentless calls for tougher gun laws didn’t sit well with some Americans, prompting more than 72,000 U.S. citizens to sign a petition calling for the deportation of the British journalist.

Now, more than 300 U.K. citizens have a message for the U.S.: Keep him. We don’t want him back.

“We got rid of him once and why should we have to suffer again,” reads the petition (which requires 500 signatures to prompt a reply from U.K. Home Secretary Theresa May).

“The Americans wanted him so they should put up with him. We washed our hands of him a long time ago.”

The White House has not yet responded to the calls for Morgan’s forcible expulsion.
