"I'm gonna want to ask questions about those positions."
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), known by some as one of the more liberal voices in the Senate, is apparently still not comfortable with the views of Obama defense secretary nominee Chuck Hagel. Appearing on "Fox News Sunday" with Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.), Blumenthal told host Chris Wallace point-blank that he wasn't ready to vote for Hagel, despite the former Nebraska senator's record of service.
"I'm gonna want to ask questions about those positions. I am not comfortable yet," Blumenthal told Wallace. "There are tremendously consequential issues that are equally important to ask about during this hearing."
Watch Blumenthal's full reasoning below:
Blumenthal joins an already wide and ideologically diverse list of politicians with concerns about Hagel's nomination. Nevertheless, Blumenthal predicted Hagel's eventual confirmation.
"I think Senator Hagel will be approved, and I think the history of nominees shows and I think his own qualifications also demonstrate that he has the capacity," Blumenthal said.
