National Review editor sides with Cal Thomas on Carson's Prayer Breakfast speech

Conservative columnist Cal Thomas spoke out (and caught heat on the right for it) against Dr. Ben Carson's controversial National Prayer Breakfast speech. Thomas called Carson's politically-charged remarks "inappropriate" for the event, which was attended by President Obama.

Siding with Thomas is National Review Editor Rich Lowry. "The National Prayer Breakfast is not supposed to serve as a forum for a clash of political visions, but that was what Ben Carson made it last week," Lowry wrote in a column published yesterday.

He lauded the speech, however, as an "old-fashioned American up-from-the-bootstraps success story joined to a celebration of old-fashioned American virtues."
