Can You Spot the Embarrassing Mistake the Lakers Made With Shaquille O'Neal's Retired Jersey?
April 03, 2013
Whoops.
During halftime of the Lakers-Mavericks game at the Staples Center Wednesday night, the Lakers retired the jersey of Shaquille O'Neal, one of the most dominant centers in NBA history.
However, when the jersey was unveiled alongside other some of the Lakers greatest players, something just seemed off. As it turns out, that's because something was off.
As you can see in the photo below, O'Neal's jersey currently hanging at the Staples Center has Shaq's name and number on the front of a Lakers jersey instead of the back. The signature notch in the neckline makes it painfully obvious that a mistake was made.
Lakers spokesman John Black acknowledged the oversight on Wednesday, saying it will be corrected and a new jersey will be put up as soon as possible.
