Did Christie reveal his weight-loss surgery to help promote an MSNBC host's new book?

From an Associated Press story on New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's (R) weight-loss surgery, made public Tuesday:

Though Christie says he intended to keep his procedure a personal matter, The New York Post's article came out the same day as MSNBC personality Mika Brzezinski's book, "Obsessed: America's Food Addiction - And My Own," was released.

Christie, often cited on MSNBC's Morning Joe (co-hosted by Brzezinski) as one of the country's most effective Republicans, appears in the book to discuss his trouble with losing weight. The same day Christie's surgery was revealed, a parody video played at the New Jersey Correspondents' Dinner, featuring Christie and Brzezinski on the Morning Joe set. "I thought he was here just last week but I guess he's back," Brzezinski says, mocking the cozy relationship between the show and the governor.

Is it a coincidence that Christie made his surgery public via the New York Post the same day Brzezinski's book published? A spokeswoman in his office said someone would get back to us.

According to the New York Times, however, Christie only commented on the surgery after he was directly asked about it by a reporter, who said the Post would be running a story on it the next day.
