A pregnant mother and her toddler son were killed today after a speed boat collided with pontoon boat on a lake southwest of Greensboro, N.C., reports Fox News 8.
Melissa Chambers Britt was ejected into High Rock Lake, authorities said. Her body was found later in the afternoon after a recovery effort.
Britt's child, William Jaiden Britt, reportedly between 2 and 4 years old, died at a hospital.

Authorities said the victims were all family members and were riding on the pontoon boat. The driver, the father, was not injured. The family dog, also on the boat, is missing.No one on the pontoon boat was wearing life jackets, officials said. They said the speed boat was driving well over 25 mph in a shallow part of the lake. No one on the speed boat was injured.
Rescue crews and about 50 volunteers were on the scene. Authorities said there is no indication of alcohol being a factor, but speed may have played a role in the accident.
