5 New Things Apple Announced at Developers' Conference

Apple began its Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco Monday, unveiling design changes, feature upgrades and a long-expected radio service.

Here's a recap of what Apple has announced so far:

• iRadio:  Apple unveiled an Internet radio service called iTunes Radio and said the service will personalize listeners' music based on what they've listened to and what they've purchased on iTunes. There will be both a free and commercial-free version (for a fee of $25) available in the fall.

• iOS7: The new operating system will be available for iPhone 4 and newer versions, as well as the iPad 2 and iPad Mini. iOS7 will be available to the public come fall and it is still rumored that Apple might introduce a new iPhone at that time. This new software will also switch from a 3D design for icons to a "flat" design and will also update most frequently used apps automatically. The Associated Press wrote it was the the most radical design change since the iPhone made its debut in 2007. A version of iOS is also expected to be built into cars.

• Photo organization: Instead of the endless streams of the past, Apple announced pictures will be organized into moments, like "home" or "trip to San Francisco," allowing your device to remember when and where something happened even if you as the user don't.

• iWork: This feature, last updated in 2009, is getting a long-awaited upgrade. It will tap into Apple's iCloud and will work on a Web browser, you can now use it on a Windows computer, too.

• Passwords: Keep forgetting which password pairs with which device? Apple announced a new feature on its iCloud file-storage service that will keep track of all your passwords - encrypted for security - across your various devices.

CEO Tim Cook opened the event as the keynote speaker touting Apple's more than 400 retail stores worldwide and its 900,000 apps in the Apple online store, including 375,000 specifically designed for the iPad and its larger screen compared with the iPhone.

WWDC runs through Friday.
