President Barack Obama took time during his trip to Los Angeles to dine Tuesday night with Jeffrey Katzenberg, the CEO of DreamWorks and a big Democratic party donor, according to a White House press pool report.

Katzenberg contributed a total of $3 million to Obama’s reelection SuperPAC called Priorities USA Action in 2012, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. He also contributed $61,600 to the Democratic National Committee in 2012.

White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters during the press gaggle in California about the dinner, identifying Katzenberg as the president’s “longtime friend.”

The two dined at the Hilton Woodland Hills. Carney declined to answer questions about where in the hotel the dinner was held or who paid, according to the pool report.

The president traveled to Arizona and California over Tuesday and Wednesday. He spoke about a housing plan in Phoenix, Ariz. and appeared Tuesday night on the “Tonight Show” with Jay Leno on NBC. Today the president is speaking at the U.S. Marine Corps base in Camp Pendleton, Calif.
