Spotted: high-profile Senate hopeful ordering lunch at chain restaurant that sells baked potato soup

During the lunch hour on Monday, TheBlaze Blog spotted one U.S. Senate candidate who's making waves in the news media, not so much for his personal record or vision but for the incumbent he's challenging in his state's Republican primary.

The Senate hopeful was seen tapping on his phone while waiting in line at a particularly busy chain restaurant just a few blocks from the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. A campaign staffer (we're told it was his press secretary) was seen ordering just ahead of him.

Who was it?

The Tea Party-backed Matt Bevin, who is challenging Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnellfrom the right. The restaurant: Corner Bakery Cafe. (It serves an excellent baked potato soup.)

The latest polling data shows that Republican Kentucky voters, when asked to choose between the two ahead of the May 20th primary, prefer McConnell 55 percent to Bevin's 29 percent.
