When a 1,000-Pound Moose Rams You in the Middle of the Forest and Won't Go Away...
February 26, 2014
The moose retreated down the path but still wouldn't move off.
A 51-year-old man videotaped himself snowmobiling with his son somewhere in the western U.S. when he encountered a moose standing in the middle of the well-worn forest path.
Not only did the moose refuse to budge after the man yelled and clapped, but the hefty animal began walking toward the man aboard the lead snowmobile.
As the man's yelling and clapping became more urgent, the moose picked up the pace.
And charged...
Wham!
All 1,000 pounds of the bull rammed the man — who has a heart condition — in the chest, Field & Stream noted in January.
The moose retreated down the path but still wouldn't move off it.
With his son in another snowmobile behind him, the man pulled out a Glock pistol and fired a warning shot.
Still, the moose wouldn't move.
So the dad fired four more shots, this time aimed at the animal, which soon crumpled to the ground, letting dad and son get by.
