Social Media Expert Says Libertarians and Rand Paul Have a 'Tremendous Opportunity' in 2016

"The country has shifted toward libertarianism and is embracing it much more warmly..."

Kevin D. Williamson is a prominent libertarian who recently asserted that Ky. Sen. Rand Paul (R) will have a hard time winning the presidential election in 2016 if he chooses to run. He believes “Americans hate libertarianism,” even if they don’t realize it at the moment.

But on the Glenn Beck Program Wednesday, social media expert John Cardillo of PsyID said libertarians -- and Rand Paul in particular -- have a "tremendous opportunity" in 2016 for several reasons.

"The country has shifted toward libertarianism and is embracing it much more warmly," Cardillo said, adding that Americans are much more open to reducing the size of government than they were even in 2012.

Cardillo also said repealing Obamacare is seen as the "number one issue" by countless individuals, and "people trust Rand Paul to deal with it" because he is a doctor and speaks with "tremendous authority on the subject."

"65% across the spectrum" oppose the president's overhaul of the healthcare industry, Cardillo said, according to his company's analysis.

Rather than polling Americans for their opinions, which can be flawed for a number of reasons, Cardillo has compared what his organization does to being "in a big party and listening to every clique chatting about things that they care about, that they’re interested in, that they’re engaged in, in a very frank, casual way.”

They accomplish this "fly on the wall" approach by monitoring the world of social media.

"I think that libertarians and conservative libertarians have a tremendous opportunity here," he asserted.
