U.S. Airways apologized for a pornographic tweet sent out from their official account Monday and said they are working to prevent a future repeat of the incident.

“We apologize for the inappropriate image we recently shared in a Twitter response. Our investigation has determined that the image was initially posted to our Twitter feed by another user," U.S. Airways said in a statement forwarded to TheBlaze. "We captured the tweet to flag it as inappropriate. Unfortunately the image was inadvertently included in a response to a customer."

The pornographic tweet featured a model airplane and a naked woman lying on her back in a graphic sexual position. TheBlaze has decided not to publish the image, due to its extremely graphic nature.

U.S. Airways said in their statement that they "immediately realized the error and removed the tweet." The image remained on their account for about an hour before it was deleted.

The tweet was widely circulated on the Internet moments after it was posted to the U.S. Airways account.

"We deeply regret the mistake and we are currently reviewing our processes to prevent such errors in the future," the airline said.
