Cindy McCain: Gwyneth Paltrow Is a 'Joke' for Comparing Mean Online Comments to Being in War

"Her life is like taking bullets for a soldier. What a joke!"

"Gweneth Paltrow is a joke. Her life is like taking bullets for a soldier. What a joke! My 2 sons serving in the military should talk to her," the wife of Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain tweeted Wednesday evening after posting a link to Paltrow's comments from a tech conference.

Paltrow, who was recently derided for announcing her split from Coldplay frontman husband Chris Martin as a "conscious uncoupling," said the Internet has become a place for people to anonymously project "our hatred, our jealousy." In 2013, she topped a Star magazine poll of the most hated celebrities in Hollywood.

“You come across [online comments] about yourself and about your friends, and it’s a very dehumanizing thing. It’s almost like how, in war, you go through this bloody, dehumanizing thing, and then something is defined out of it,” Paltrow was quoted as saying at the Code Conference on Tuesday, according to the tech site Re/code. “My hope is, as we get out of it, we’ll reach the next level of conscience.”

Cindy McCain posted in a follow-up tweet: "Perhaps Gweneth Paltrow should go out on patrol with some soldiers. Kind of like a Red Carpet in her mind I guess!"

Daughter Meghan McCain also got in on it, tweeting Thursday: "Maybe Gwyneth Paltrow should visit Walter Reed and some of our heroic veterans before comparing her life to theirs. #shesatotalidiot"
