Delivery Service Left Customer’s Package on the Roof, Then Left Behind This Note
August 11, 2014
British delivery service myHermes made a bizarre blunder last week when they delivered a customer's package, not to his doorstep, but to his roof.
They even left a note telling Benjamin Ward where exactly his package was.
Thanks @myhermes for delivering my parcel so it's 20ft high stuck to the roof! Great care taken! #Hermes pic.twitter.com/zN4IhCq95d

The mistake is going viral, with Ward's tweet receiving over 3,000 retweets as of Monday afternoon.
Ruddy hell! My twitter went a bit mental today! Did no one else get a parcel stuck on the roof?

For its part, the myHermes offered an apologetic phone call — though it remains unclear how the package got stuck in the roof in the first place — and sent the delivery person back to Ward's home to make things right.
@benjamin1980 Hey Benjamin. Of course, I'm sorry the explanation hasn't reached yourself. Are you free for a call today so we can chat about

Ward said he and the delivery guy later worked out a high-tech fix: They knocked the package down with a rake.
@MrsNSiu he was with his young son & I was having my dinner - I lent him my rake to knock it down and off he went. x
