Looking for the Perfect Picture, This Guy Did the 'New York Thing to Do.' It Got Him Arrested.
August 25, 2014
Some people will do anything to get the perfect selfie.
On Sunday afternoon, 24-year-old Yaroslav Kolchin dodged a security gate and scaled a cable beam to reach the top of the Brooklyn Bridge, WPIX-TV reported.
"That seems like a New York thing to do," a local told the station.
Police, reportedly on high alert since the American flags on the Brooklyn Bridge were stolen and replaced by daredevil artists last month, quickly spotted Kolchin and they were waiting with handcuffs when he came back down.
WPIX reported that no property was damaged in the incident, but Kolchin was charged with criminal trespassing, reckless endangerment, obstruction of governmental administration and disorderly conduct.
