The 4.6-Billion-Year History of Planet Earth in One Infographic

Can a 4.6-billion-year journey be summed up in one sleek graphic?

Designer Juan David Martinez has produced an infographic purporting to portray the entire history of the planet Earth — and the creatures on it — from the fiery dawn of the Precambrian Age through the splitting apart of Pangea, tracking the rise and extinction of species along the way.

In one tight circle, the graphic shows the different species believed to have lived during different eras of the Earth's development, from primordial sea creatures to Triassic dinosaurs to modern man.

Biblical creationists may question the graphic's details, but it tells an undeniably beautiful story of constant change, growth and loss.
