Before CNN Refrained From Showing the Charlie Hebdo Cartoons, One Host Proved He Was Unafraid
January 07, 2015
"If they are not able to get their message out, we will get it out for them."
CNN host Chris Cuomo did not succumb to fear following Wednesday's deadly terror attack in France on a satirical newspaper.
Covering the developing situation on "New Day," a news program that airs on the cable news network in the morning, Cuomo symbolically showed one of Charlie Hebdo's cartoon depictions of the Prophet Muhammad.
"If they are not able to get their message out, we will get it out for them," he said before showing the image on television.

Video of Cuomo's act of defiance was posted on Internet community website Reddit where it started to gather a lot of attention.
CNN, along with other news networks, later refrained from broadcasting the controversial cartoons.
"We are actively discussing the best way of addressing the key issues and images across all of our platforms," a CNN spokeswoman said. "Those conversations will continue throughout the day and beyond as the story develops."
