10 Famous Celebrities With Pro-Gun Views That May Surprise You

No. 2 was a bit of a surprise.

Following actor Vince Vaughn’s blunt endorsement of the Second Amendment this week, Raw Story has put together a list of some other pro-gun celebrities — and some of them might just surprise you.

1. Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg, co-host of “The View,” likely stunned many viewers in 2012 when she announced she is a card-carrying member of the National Rifle Association.

During the episode, libertarian personality John Stossel asked her, “You packing now?”

“You wouldn’t want to find out,” Goldberg replied to applause.

2. Brad Pitt

During a 2012 interview with the Daily Mail, actor Brad Pitt confessed he feels safer having a gun in the house. He also said that America is a “country founded on guns.

“It’s in our DNA. It’s very strange, but I feel better having a gun. I really do. I don’t feel safe, I don’t feel the house is completely safe, if I don’t have one hidden somewhere,” he said. “That’s my thinking, right or wrong.”

3. Johnny Depp

Though perhaps not a card-toting NRA member, Johnny Depp told the Huffington Post that he shot rifles, handguns and even submachine guns as a kid, an activity he will pass down to his kids.

“I will most certainly take my kids out for target practice,” the actor said in 2009.

4. Angelina Jolie

Just like her husband, Brad Pitt, Jolie said she likes to have a gun in the house for self-defense.

“If anybody comes into my home and tries to hurt my kids, I’ve no problem shooting them,” Jolie told the Daily Mail in 2008.

She added, “Brad and I are not against having a gun in the house, and we do have one. And yes, I’d be able to use it if I had to. I could handle myself.”

5. James Earl Jones

The legendary actor is reportedly a member of the NRA, though he doesn’t get into the politics of it.

“I just throw the political mail from the NRA into the trash…When it comes to the right-wing politics of the NRA, I don’t get into that. I just believe in my right to have a gun in my house,” he wrote in his 2004 autobiography, “Voices and Silences.”
