See the Viral Photo of a High School Basketball Player 'Levitating’ During a Game

“We wanted to squash any rumors that it was photoshopped,” Woods said. “Or that Walker was a Jedi.”

A local photographer in Champaign, Illinois, captured a photo of Champaign Central High School’s Walker Stillman appearing to levitate during a basketball game Friday evening, according to Champaign's News-Gazette.

The picture quickly went viral.

“You wouldn’t believe the attention,” photographer Liz Brunson told the News-Gazette.

“I really didn’t have much reaction when I saw the shot because I’ve taken plenty of pictures of Walker, and I know he can jump,” Brunson added. “I just thought it was funny, had no idea that it would go viral like that.”

Walker told the News-Gazette about the play: “Most of the people I’ve heard from ask me ‘What were you doing?' I had jumped for a rebound and saw that it wasn’t coming my way, so I kind of stopped what I was doing.”

Walker’s mom, Jane, who is also the assistant principal at the school, plans to frame the picture.

“I’m going to hang it on the wall,” she said, “so when he gets old he can remember how high he used to jump.”

Central athletic director John Woods and Central coach Jeff Finke were able to provide video of the moment.

“We wanted to squash any rumors that it was photoshopped,” Woods said. “Or that Walker was a Jedi.”
