Cruz Wins Kansas and Maine, Trump Takes Louisiana and Kentucky on Super Saturday
March 05, 2016
"I believe that he is a true fighter for conservatives."
Sen. Ted Cruz and Donald Trump split the four took the Super Saturday states today, with Cruz winning caucuses in Kansas and Maine and Trump winning Louisiana and Kentucky.
Kentucky's caucus result was close — the race wasn't called until about 11 p.m. Saturday.
The Texas senator has now built some momentum coming off wins on Super Tuesday in his home state of Texas as well as Alaska and Oklahoma. He also won the Iowa caucuses.
But Trump has put together an impressive string of victories — winning the other 10 states up for grabs so far this 2016 cycle, including New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada.
Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton competed in Nebraska, Kansas and Louisiana. Sanders won Kansas and Nebraska, and Clinton won Louisiana on the Democratic side.
