Somebody Gave This Martin Luther King Jr. Statue a Political Makeover — and Many People Are Not Happy

A photo of a statue of Martin Luther King Jr. decked in a hat emblazoned with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign slogan has caused a stir on social media.

The Instagram account “students4trump” posted the photo of a statue of the civil rights leader decked in Trump’s signature hat and captioned it “Pretty self explanatory.”

Some social media users called the photo “disgusting” and “disrespectful” and questioned if it was a “joke.” Others called it “awesome” and “hilarious.”

“Brother King wouldn't have supported the incoherently ignoramus Trump, because unlike him, Brother King was a REPUBLICAN!” one commenter wrote.

“I'm losing brain cells just by looking at this,” wrote another.

“It's not coming from hate. It's coming from a joke. So calm down,” said another.

One could only manage, “smh.”

According to WTSP-TV, the photo was taken at the University of South Florida, where it also generated a great deal of reaction.
