Read the Letter Sent to Police by Father of Man Who Allegedly Injured Officer in Rock-Throwing Incident

The father of a man who allegedly injured a Coatesville Police Department officer wrote a heartfelt note of apology to the department, according to WTXF-TV.

According to WTXF, Eric Watson Jr. allegedly injured officer Jared Davis by throwing a rock through the windshield of his patrol vehicle last month. When Davis exited the vehicle, Watson reportedly tried to attack him with the same rock.

Watson’s parents wanted to apologize to the CPD officers for their son’s actions. Watson's mother drove from North Carolina and his father flew in from Jamaica in order to do so in person.

Watson’s father wrote a letter to “extend my sincere apology” for his son’s actions to the department and to thank them for their “professionalism” in the aftermath of the attack. With the family's permission, the department shared the note on Facebook Tuesday, where it quickly gained attention.

According to WTXF, Watson’s family has “a long history of military and law enforcement,” and they had not seen their son in years prior to seeing him on the news.
