Tim Allen vows guns will be hot topic in ‘Last Man Standing’: ‘Going to have to deal with that’

Actor Tim Allen promises that guns will be addressed during the upcoming season of the recently rebooted "Last Man Standing."

What did he say?

According to Closer Weekly, one topic of importance that the "Last Man Standing" cast will cover is guns.

Allen, who is 64 years old and openly conservative, explained that his character, Mike Baxter, "owns a sporting goods store that has firearms."

"So we're going to have to deal with that somehow," he added, according to the outlet.

He also told Closer that he was excited to be taking on various issues in the show's fall reboot.

"We have so much left in our tank," he explained. "There were a lot of stories we hadn’t gotten to."

Anything else?

Fox officially resurrected the widely popular, conservative-slanted sitcom for a seventh season earlier in May.

ABC cancelled the show in 2016 amid speculation that the show was cancelled because of Allen's conservative political views.

After Fox announced that the show would be brought back to the airwaves, Allen issued statements of celebration.

"Excited? Team 'LMS' was in the sixth inning, ahead by four runs, stands were packed and then for no reason, they call off the game. It leaves you sitting in the dugout, holding a bat and puzzled," he said.

"Now we get the news from Fox that it’s time to get back out on that diamond – hell yes, I’m excited!" the actor gushed. "When I heard the offer to create more episodes of 'Last Man Standing,' I did a fist pump so hard I threw my back out."

Allen went on to thank the fans, who he said were instrumental in encouraging a network to bring the much-loved show back.

"It’s the fans! I could not be more grateful for the fans who wrote petitions and kept up the passion and incredible support for the show," Allen said. "And a fist pump, ouch, for Dana Walden and Gary Newman at Fox for not only listening to the fans, but for making the bold move to bring 'Last Man Standing' back. I’m sure audiences will be curious to see what we look like after all these years."
