On their beats: Law enforcement lip sync battles going viral

Police departments across America have been challenging each another to lip sync battles of late, and they seem to be upping their game. With the latest "hit" by the officers in Norfolk, Virginia garnering more than 42 million views since posting their video on Monday.

What's the story?

A number of departments in Texas have been engaging in the fun, dancing and lip syncing to hits and chiding other. Two weeks ago, the officers of the Corinth Police Department in Texas posted a video on Facebook of them jamming to the Miley Cyrus song, Party in the USA.

Since then, their clip has received 12 million views. In the post, they challenged the Norfolk, Virginia Police Department.

Not to be outdone, Norfolk's boys and girls in blue solicited some help from their friends at the fire department to join in. Lip syncing to Bruno Mars' Uptown Funk with props, one cop doing the floss dance, and even a baby involved — they will be a tough act to beat in this competition.

Norfolk's finest have now thrown down the gauntlet to the Seattle Police Department, Norfolk Constabulary, Virginia Police Department, and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

And for those concerned about how much of their tax dollars were spent for production, the Norfolk police boast that their video was done in just one take.
