Dismembered top model's head found in soup pot; multiple former family members arrested

Top international model and social media influencer Abby Choi's head was found in a soup pot Sunday, and police have arrested her ex-husband and three of his relatives in connection with the gruesome crime, the Telegraph reported Sunday.

The Paris Fashion Week model's body was reportedly dismembered and its parts made into soup after a family feud over a luxury property.

Police found a skull and several ribs in a soup pot. They believe the body parts to be that of 28-year-old Choi, who went missing Tuesday, South China Morning Post reported.

Police had located her dismembered legs in a refrigerator in a butchery-like workshop Friday, but had not yet located her head, torso, and hands, the Telegraph said of the grisly discovery. Choi's ex father-in-law reportedly rented the site where the partial remains were found.

"Police uncovered a meat grinder, electric saw and two pots containing human tissue on Friday, alongside two types of meat cleavers, a hammer, face shields, black raincoats and a purple handbag that belonged to Choi at the Tai Po flat," according to the South China Morning Post.

Police say the murder was "premeditated," and suspect Choi's ex-father-in-law, a former police sergeant, masterminded the plot, the outlet also reports.

Four of Choi's former family members have been arrested in connection with the crime, according to the Washington Post. One suspect is her ex-husband, whom police identified by the surname Kwong. The remaining three are the Kwong's father, mother, and older brother, the outlet also reports.

Kwong was arrested Saturday after an apparent attempt to flee by speedboat. He was carrying HK$500,000 in cash (about $63,695) and HK$4 million (about $50,9697) worth of luxury watches when he was arrested, according to the South China Morning Post.

About 100 officers, a drone, and tracker dogs were used to attempt to locate traces of Choi, the outlet also said. The investigation also involved searching a reservoir in a cemetery and inspecting sewage pipes.

Police say the one of the two soup pots they found was "almost full and covered with thick fat, some green radishes and carrots and meat believed to be human flesh." The pots were transported to a mortuary. DNA tests and dental records will determine if the head, which still had hair attached, is, in fact, Choi's.
