Biden makes bizarre comment about death of a business leader in latest gaffe

President Joe Biden made a bizarre comment noting the death of a business owner and he's facing more criticism on his latest gaffe.

Biden made the comments at the beginning of a speech at the White House where he offered his condolences to the family of Matt Susz, the executive vice president and chief financial officer of JOANN Fabric and Craft Stores.

"By the way, my sympathies to your – the family of your CFO, who dropped dead very unexpectedly," Biden said.

"My best to their family, that's tough stuff," he added.

Biden went on to sign the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2022.

Critics of the president responded on social media to the clumsy comments.

"That was pretty heartless," responded one detractor.

"Wow!" replied another critic. "How would he like someone referring to his son with those words?"

"I would say that you can hear the gears grinding in his head, but I'd be lying. You can, however, hear the wind noise...a howling sound," joked one detractor.

Others on the left claimed Biden critics were trying to distract Americans from the ongoing Jan. 6 Committee investigating the rioting at the U.S. Capitol.

Biden is well known for making inappropriate and embarrassing gaffes. In one incident from March, the president implied to U.S. soldiers that they would be sent to Ukraine despite there being no order or intention for the U.S. military to actively join the war.

In another instance from April, Biden sputtered badly in the middle of a speech when he could not pronounce the word "kleptocracy." And also in April, Biden confused the mask mandate with Title 42, a policy related to illegal immigration, forcing the White House to clarify his comments.

"For the good of the country, he needs to stop speaking extemporaneously in public," responded Republican Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas at the time.
