Police arrested a Pennsylvania school cafeteria worker who is accused of shooting a BB gun at children playing on a local playground earlier this week.

Marie McWilliams, a Shamokin Area School District cafeteria worker in Coal Township, admitted to police that she fired BBs at the kids because they made her angry, KYW-TV reported.

The 30-year-old woman was allegedly shooting at the kids from an upstairs window of her home near the playground.

What's the story?

Coal Township police officers responded to a 911 call from a child at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The caller reported that a woman was yelling, cursing, and shooting a BB gun at him and his friends, according to KLEW-TV.

After the officers arrived, the children said they could hear the BBs flying past their heads. It's not immediately clear why the woman was angry at the kids.

A parent who confronted McWilliams claimed that the 30-year-old cafeteria worker "was ready to fight," according to KLEW.

The mother told police that McWilliams told her "if I don't get them now, I will get them tomorrow at lunch," KYW reported.

What are the charges?

McWilliams was charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment. Bail was set at $10,000.

The woman remains in the Northumberland County Jail.

What else?

The status of the woman's employment is not immediately clear.
