Twitter drools over actor Chris Evans — aka Captain America — after he blasts Alabama abortion bill on Twitter
May 15, 2019
They're all coming out of the woodwork now
Actor Chris Evans is the latest in a procession of celebrities speaking out against Alabama's new abortion bill.
On Tuesday, the Alabama state Senate passed a bill that would make essentially all in-state abortions illegal.
If Republican Gov. Kay Ivey signs the bill, it would become the nation's strictest abortion law. Ivey has not publicly said if she will sign the bill, but reports say that she is expected to do so.
What did Captain America have to say?
On Twitter, Evans wrote, "This is absolutely unbelievable. If you're not worried about roe v wade, you're not paying attention. This is why voting matters!!"
Much of Twitter reacted positively to Evans' statement, with one commenter even calling for "Captain America for President."
Another added, "Even Captain America knows banning abortion is completely wrong."
Another user played off Evans' Captain America role and wrote, "Yo Cap, you dealt with time travel. Any chance you can help get Alabama out of the 1800's?"
What else?
Evans isn't the only prolific person in Hollywood to speak out against the pro-life bill: Actress and activist Alyssa Milano encouraged women in the U.S. to go on a sex strike until further notice, and actress Milla Jovovich publicly discussed her "emergency abortion," which she said still gives her nightmares. British Jameela Jamil even got in on the discussion and boasted of her abortion, calling it one of the best decisions she's ever made in a lifetime.
