Mom's boyfriend arrested after she sees him brutally beating her 5-year-old boy on her home camera for wetting his bed

A Florida mother's boyfriend was arrested after she told police she saw him beating her 5-year-old boy on her home camera as a punishment for wetting his bed.

The harrowing incident unfolded on Wednesday after the mother went to a doctor's appointment, leaving her 32-year-old boyfriend, Shawn Stone, with her son at their home in Deland.

She said she had a "gut feeling," so she checked her cameras and saw her boyfriend allegedly kick and punch her son in the head as the boy was in a fetal position in his bed.

She claimed that the boy begged him to stop, but Stone grabbed a mop and began hitting him with it until the camera image stopped.

An arrest report said that police documented various injuries on the boy, including a lacerated lip with fresh blood; bruising on the top of his head, his eyes, and his face; and a bruise in the shape of a mop handle on his left thigh.

The child also suffered from a skull fracture.

Stone allegedly told deputies that he grew angry with the boy because he had urinated in his bed and admitted to slapping the boy in the mouth but denied hitting him with the mop. He is quoted as saying that his "anger got the best of me."

The woman told investigators that Stone had previously used methamphetamine in the past.

The man was booked in the Volusia County Jail and charged with aggravated child abuse, a first-degree felony.

A report from the Daytona Beach News Journal said Stone had a long criminal history, including charges of burglary, armed burglary, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, grand theft of a firearm, and grand theft, among others.
