'Go home to mommy': Young climate extremists attempt to crash Trump's Iowa rally, but it doesn't go their way

A group of young climate extremists made a futile attempt to crash former President Donald Trump's rally in Indianola, Iowa, on Sunday ahead of the state's caucuses, the Daily Mail reported.

Trump's rally was held inside the campus center at Simpson College over the weekend. While there are no official counts on the number of attendees, an estimated 500 or more Iowa voters braved the frigid temperatures to hear Trump speak.

The event was momentarily interrupted when several activists began shouting over the former president while holding a sign reading, "Trump: Climate Criminal."

Videos posted to social media captured Trump supporters drowning out the activists' outbursts. Before the climate extremists were dragged out of the event, Trump, who seemed unfazed by the interruption, told the activists to "go home to mommy" and "grow up."

"Thank you, darling, thank you. That's all right," Trump said in response to the protesters. "Go home to mommy; you're mommy's waiting."

"So young. So young," he continued. "You know, it's amazing because that used to happen all of the time, and I don't think it's happened in two and a half or three years."

Trump added that the protesters were "so young and immature," but noted that the interruptions "always add excitement."

"They'll grow up and understand that it's very important what we're doing when we speak from common sense," Trump said.

The climate extremists were dragged out of the event as Trump's supporters shouted, "USA!"

Journalist Laura Loomer shared a video on X of the event, writing, "Climate change extremists just tried to disrupt President Trump's rally in Indianola, Iowa, but they were DROWNED OUT by MAGA. President Trump was unfazed by it, and cracked a joke, saying, 'they are so young, and they are fighting oil.' The room laughed loudly."

Sunrise Movement, the group that took responsibility for organizing the interruption of Trump's rally, posted on social media, "We just interrupted Trump's rally to call him out for what he is: a climate criminal who cares more about the oil and gas millionaires who bankroll his campaign than our generation's future."

The group also interrupted rallies held by several other Republican candidates, including Vivek Ramaswamy, Ron DeSantis, and Nikki Haley.

"All week, we've asked Nikki Haley, 'how can you take $ from oil and gas millionaires and claim to stand with our generation?'" Sunrise Movement stated. "She's DESPERATE to avoid that question. This morning she literally ran away from us. Last night her staff kicked out every young person from the event."

According to the group, Haley's campaign removed "random people who look college-aged" from the event.
