Self-described 'conservative' who previously voted for Biden says if Trump becomes GOP nominee, 'conservatives are going to vote for Joe Biden—again'

Heath Mayo, who describes himself as a "conservative voter," has declared that if the Republican Party taps former President Donald Trump as its 2024 presidential nominee, he and other conservatives will vote for Democratic President Joe Biden during the general election.

"Hey, GOP: If you nominate Trump again, conservatives are going to vote for Joe Biden—again. And more of us this time. It's your call. If you want to keep getting beat, go right ahead," Mayo tweeted. "I disagree with Biden on tons, but he won't inspire an attack on our Capitol or call to 'terminate' the Constitution or deny elections," he wrote in another tweet.

Mayo called others to join him in publicly declaring that if Trump is the GOP nominee, they will not vote for him.

"And to all the conservatives and Republicans who will also vote against Trump if he's the nominee, make it known now. It's the one thing that might cause the GOP to not pick this guy. If you care about the GOP, the most constructive thing you can do is let it know you will leave," Mayo tweeted.

In a February tweet, Mayo said that he had voted for Biden in the previous election and that it would be an even easier decision to vote for the Democrat again. "I voted for Biden over Trump and would do so again with even greater ease and confidence a second time," Mayo wrote, referring to Trump as "a nutcase."

Trump announced last year that he is running for president again. The former president, who will face competition from other Republican presidential hopefuls during the GOP primary, has been taking shots at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — the governor has not announced a presidential bid, but is a popular figure on the political right who could potentially jump into the race. DeSantis has said that he believes he has what it takes to be president and that he thinks he could defeat President Joe Biden, but he also said that he has not made his "final decision" on whether he will run.
