Photo of ‘The View’ co-host Joy Behar dressed as a ‘beautiful African woman’ resurfaces — and it doesn’t look good
February 07, 2019
Well lookie here ...
Joy Behar of "The View" will likely find herself under fire after an old Halloween photo that was surfaced in 2016 started making the rounds on the internet again.
What are the details?
When Behar was 29 years old, she apparently dressed up as a "beautiful African woman" for Halloween, complete with makeup to make her skin darker.
Behar and her 2016 co-hosts discussed the photo as a segue into mulling over the beauty resurgence of naturally curly hair. In the photo, a young Behar can be seen with a curly coif and a decidedly darker skin tone.
The Wrap's Jon Levine tweeted about the video, writing, "Joy Behar admitted during a taping of The View in 2016 to dressing as a 'beautiful African women' at a Halloween party when she was 29 which involved makeup 'that was a little bit darker than my skin.'"
"The show even ran an image of the old photo," Levine added.
What else?
During the show, former co-host Raven-Symoné asked, "Joy, are you black?" after seeing the photo.
"I was so cute," Behar responded. Raven-Symoné — who is black — continues her gentle ribbing of Behar, asking, "Are you my auntie, Joy?" and "Did you have tanning lotion on, Joy?"
Behar answered that she was wearing makeup "that was a little bit darker than my skin."
Behar has yet to address the recently resurfaced photo at the time of this writing.
