McDonald's employee on the run after shooting manager during heated argument: Police

A McDonald's employee is said to have fled the scene of a crime after reportedly shooting his manager during a heated argument that took place at an Atlanta, Georgia, restaurant on Friday.

According to a report from Newsweek, 21-year-old Christopher Jean-Pierre argued with his manager, Elizabeth Williams, on the afternoon of June 3. Williams was said to have asked Jean-Pierre to leave, and he complied. He reportedly returned, however, to confront her later in the day — this time armed with a gun.

Jean-Pierre then reportedly shot Williams several times and fled the scene.

Authorities rushed to the location to find Williams with multiple gunshot wounds. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition, for treatment.

Police are seeking Jean-Pierre's whereabouts. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call 911. The suspect is facing charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery, criminal attempt to commit murder, and several other charges.

Danesha Smith, owner of the McDonald's franchise, said that the store is "deeply disturbed" by the incident.

"Our top priority is always the safety and well-being of our employees and customers at our restaurants," Smith said. ""We are deeply disturbed by this incident and our thoughts are with our employee at this time. We are fully cooperating with local law enforcement in their investigation."

Chief People Officer Colnith Brown told WSB-TV that Williams has been an "amazing leader” over the years and is well-loved by the community.

"Brown said Williams and Jean-Pierre seemed to have a good relationship before the shooting," the station added in its report. "Brown said Williams had just returned a load of laundry she had washed for him."

Williams' condition is unknown at the time of this reporting.
