Minnesota man dressed as a UPS worker and fatally shot 3 people in their home after a robbery turned sour, prosecutors say

A man in Minnesota has been accused of killing three people after putting on a UPS uniform to gain entrance into the home. What was supposed to be a robbery suddenly turned deadly, according to NBC News.

Alonzo Mingo, 37, has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder. Though the authorities do not believe there was premeditation in the incident, there was intent, according to the complaint filed in Anoka County, Minnesota. There was also a firearm used in the case, which could lead to the defendant spending more time behind bars if he is found guilty of the crimes.

Security camera video and audio outside the victims' home in Coon Rapids appear to support the prosecution's claim that Mingo drove his vehicle to the home around noon on Friday. Mingo was also accompanied by two other people. When the three arrived at the residence, they gained entry into the home under the guise of being UPS employees, then held the victims at gunpoint, according to the report.

Though Mingo did not work for UPS at the time of the incident, KARE reported that he had been employed as a seasonal worker through mid-January.

The complaint goes on to mention that a man who looks like Mingo was captured by a bedroom camera shooting a woman who was later identified as 42-year-old Shannon Patricia Jungwirth. The other victims in the case include the son, Jorge Alexander Reyes-Jungwirth, 20, and Shannon's husband, Mario Alberto Trejo Estrada, 39, according to a second report.

Prosecutors mentioned that two children under the age of five who were in the home may have witnessed the brutal murders. When the authorities arrived at the scene, they soon discovered that the victims had all been fatally shot in the head.

"Video captures Defendant Mingo and the female return to the bedroom, where Defendant Mingo shoots the female in the head at point blank range, near the entryway," the complaint stated. "The older child can be seen entering the bedroom shortly thereafter, crying hysterically."

The sheriff's office said deputies responded to the home after an unidentified person called 911 and left the line open without speaking. Operators could reportedly hear "sounds of a disturbance in the background."

"Upon arrival, law enforcement located two males and one female deceased inside of the residence," the complaint added.

Each murder count in the case could bring a potential three to 40 years in prison. It is not clear if Mingo has retained counsel.
