'I'm going to punch him out': Nancy Pelosi threatens to assault Donald Trump in new video from January 6

In newly released video footage from January 6, 2021, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi threatens to assault then-President Donald Trump.

The video clip, recorded by Nancy Pelosi's filmmaker daughter, Alexandra Pelosi, was released Thursday during the January 6 House committee hearings. An extended version of the clip was later aired on CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360."

At the time of the recorded video, Trump was holding a "Stop the Steal" rally at the Ellipse, approximately two miles from the Capitol.

The clip begins with Pelosi's chief of staff, Terri McCullough, explaining to the House speaker that the Secret Service has convinced Trump not to join his supporters at Capitol Hill because of safety concerns.

Pelosi responded, "I hope he comes; I'm going to punch him out. I've been waiting for this, for trespassing on the Capitol grounds. I'm going to punch him out. And I'm going to jail, and I'm going to be happy."

"It's very dangerous, what he's doing," Pelosi added. "Tell him if he comes here, we're going to the White House."

Trump ultimately decided not to march with protesters at the Capitol.

During the House committee hearing on Thursday, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) argued during his opening statements, "What Donald Trump proceeded to do after the 2020 election is something no president has done before in our country."

Thompson called Trump's questioning of the election a "staggering betrayal of his oath" and accused him of planning "an attack on a pillar of our democracy."

"It's still hard to believe," said Thompson. "But the facts and testimony are clear, consistent, and undisputed."

The committee unanimously voted to subpoena Trump to testify under oath. The former president posted his reaction to the vote on social media.

"Why didn't the Unselect Committee ask me to testify months ago? Why did they wait until the very end, the final moments of their last meeting? Because the Committee is a total 'BUST' that has only served to further divide our Country which, by the way, is doing very badly," Trump posted on Truth Social.

Trump has not confirmed whether he will testify but said he would respond to the "Unselect Committee of political Hacks & Thugs tomorrow morning at 8:00."

In a Fox News Digital interview on Thursday, Trump called the committee a "witch hunt."

"The committee is a hoax, a sham, a partisan witch hunt, which is a continuation of the witch hunt that has gone on since the great day for our country that I came down the golden escalator with our future first lady," Trump said. "They have no case, they have no ratings, so they have to try to do this to get publicity."
