Philly crooks getting more brazen? This gun-toting thug simply reaches into McDonald's drive-thru window and rips out cash register
November 17, 2022
Surveillance video captured the moment earlier this month when a gun-toting masked man reached into the drive-thru window of a Philadelphia McDonald's and ripped out the cash register.
What are the details?
Philadelphia police said in a YouTube video description of the crime that an employee of the fast-food joint in the 4100 block of Whitaker Ave. was working the drive-thru around 3:25 a.m. Nov. 4 when a red SUV containing four occupants approached the window after ordering food.
Police said the suspect who was seated behind the driver reached toward the witness while pointing a handgun stating, "Give me the money."
The armed suspect appeared to be standing outside the window in the video with the SUV positioned a foot or two behind the gunman.
When the employee backed away, police said the suspect reached into the window and took the cash register, which contained an undetermined amount of money.
Police said the SUV was driven from the scene in an unknown direction.
No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made, Fox News reported.
Police cautioned that if the suspect in question is spotted, do not approach and instead call 911 immediately. To submit a tip via telephone, dial 215-686-TIPS (8477) or text a tip to 215-686-TIPS (8477), police said, adding that all tips will be confidential. In addition, police said anyone with information about this crime or this suspect can contact the East Detective Division at 215-686-3243/3244.

Anything else?
As to the question, "Are Philly crooks getting more brazen?" the answer isn't necessarily clear. However, there are a number of items brewing that may offer more solidity to an answer:
- Eleven Philadelphia college students living in an off-campus apartment said armed robbers broke in, robbed them at gunpoint, and locked them in a basement last Friday morning.
- A gang of dirt bike and ATV riders were caught on video surrounding police at a Philadelphia gas station last month — and police said the riders threw bricks and bottles at cops, which resulted in a broken windshield. Unfortunately, there'a a "no pursuit" policy in place for such vehicles.
- A Catholic priest from an order that provides services for the homeless was carjacked at gunpoint in Philadelphia — also last month — while he was unloading a wheelchair from the vehicle's trunk.
- Surveillance video released by Philadelphia police in early October shows a quartet of armed carjackers zeroing in on a victim at a gas station around 10 p.m. At least one of the crooks had a flair for the dramatic, hopping out of a white van parked in front of the targeted car, jumping on the car's roof, and pointing a gun at the car's owner, who appeared about ready to begin pumping gas.
- A man who was convicted of murder and then exonerated just a year ago is now wanted by Philadelphia police in connection with a recent fatal shooting. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner had found that the man's "constitutional rights had been violated at the time of his prosecution because information implicating another individual as the likely shooter had not been turned over to the defense council."
- Oh, and Pennsylvania House Republicans voted Wednesday to impeach Krasner over a "catastrophic rise in violent crime."
So, "more brazen" crooks? It's anybody's guess.
