This is a big problem for Democrats
According to a new CBS News poll, a majority of Americans want the Democrats to move on from their numerous investigations of President Donald Trump and Russian election interference.
While 44 percent of Americans polled say they want the investigations to continue, 53 percent say they want the Democrats to move on.
Even better for the president, 58 percent of Americans polled say they have heard enough about special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation and report, while only 37 percent want to hear more information.
The president and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) have been locked in a feud that has played out in the media over the investigations. On Wednesday, Trump abruptly walked out on a meeting with Democratic leaders on infrastructure after he told them he would not cooperate while the investigations continued.
Earlier in May, a Reuters/Ipsos poll found that less than half of Americans, 45 percent, wanted the president to be impeached, but even fewer at 42 percent wanted him to escape impeachment.
That was a slight increase in support for impeachment since the previous poll, and came after the release of the Mueller report.
Pelosi has said that Trump has given Democrats the grounds for impeachment "every day," but has been criticized by many in her part on the far left for not already beginning the proceedings to censure the president.
