Pop singer lays into woke protester who interrupted her at awards show: 'Get the f*** off!'

A half-naked, woke protester who stormed the stage at the Juno Awards, the Canadian version of the Grammys, left pop singer Avril Lavigne more than a bit frustrated.

Lavigne, who has won several Junos herself, was on stage Monday night to introduce fellow Canadian artist AP Dhillon. Lavigne was busy listing Dhillon's accomplishments and paying tribute to Dhillon's Punjabi heritage when an environmental activist decided to join Lavigne on stage.

Wearing only a pair of bright pink pants and some pasties to cover the anatomical basics, the eco activist stormed silently about the stage, flashing various activist slogans written on her body. Those slogans included "land back" and "save the green belt." The "green belt" refers to an area of Ontario where developers want to build 50,000 new homes and encourage more industrial expansion.

At first, Lavigne ignored the topless trespasser, but after several moments, Lavigne had had enough, turned to the woman, and yelled, "Get the f*** off!" Lavigne kept the moment light and laughed as she added, "Get the f*** off, b***h!" There are even some reports that Lavigne touched the unnamed protester's breast before the woman could be escorted offstage.

Later in the program, Lavigne was back on stage once again, this time to accept the Fan Choice Award, and through her acceptance speech, the protester seemed to be back alongside her in spirit.

"Nobody try anything this time," Lavigne warned in jest, "or the Canadian’s gonna come out in me, and I’ll f*** a b**** up," as the crowd roared in approval.

The host of the show, Simu Liu, congratulated Lavigne for "handling that topless lady like a champion" and then apologized to the audience "for the boobs."

Lavigne first rose to the top of the charts with pop hits "Complicated," "Sk8er Boi," and "Girlfriend" in the early 2000s and received several Grammy nominations as a result. However, after she contracted Lyme disease around her 30th birthday in 2014, she put her career on pause while she recovered. In 2019, she released the album "Head Above Water." The title track from the album is a prayer that Lavigne uttered when she felt like she was drowning as the disease ravaged her lungs.

"It was that bad that night," Lavigne recalled in February 2019, "and I was like, 'I don't think I'm going to make it.' I think I was about to die because I had this weird feeling of, 'Whoa. I feel like I'm on a cliff, and I'm about to fall, and it's dark.' Coming out of it I felt like I was under water drowning, coming up for air.

"That's when I literally said, 'God, help me keep my head above water.' I wasn't even thinking about music — it just happened," she said.
