Pro-Palestine protests erupt in London, other major cities throughout UK amid conflict in Middle East

The so-called peaceful demonstrations in London by pro-Palestinian protesters apparently took a dramatic downswing on Saturday, as those in attendance launched flares and other objects at police officers in Trafalgar Square. This comes after many demonstrations have taken place around the world amid the conflict in the Middle East.

The Daily Mail reported that there have been many who have urged Israel to "stop bombing Gaza," with protesters in major cities across the UK coming out in opposition to the Jewish state's response to the horrific killings carried out by Hamas.

There were reportedly more than 1,000 officers sent out to put down the demonstrations throughout London, with fears that the protesters would become violent. There were 15 protesters ultimately arrested in the incident, and there were nine police officers treated for minor injuries.

Some of the demonstrators waved the Palestinian flag and held placards that said "Freedom for Palestine," "End the massacre," and "Sanctions for Israel," according to the Times of Israel.

There were also those in attendance who said Prime Minister Rishi Sunak should be ashamed of himself. Protesters in Edinburgh also chanted for Israel's destruction, claiming Palestine will be freed.

“I think all just people around the world, not just in Britain, must stand up and call for this madness [to end],” Ismail Patel, chairman of the Friends of Al-Aqsa campaign, said during the demonstration in London.

“Otherwise, in the next few days, [we] might see a catastrophe unfolding.”

The immense protests come after Hamas carried out a surprise attack against the Jewish state on October 7, which ultimately resulted in more than 1,000 deaths. Israel responded by carrying out their own attack against Gaza, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claiming that the situation is officially a war.

The attack by Hamas is considered the most devastating attack against Jews since the Holocaust. Most of the people killed in the attack were civilians, on the streets and in their homes. There was also an attack at a rave party, where members of Hamas kidnapped and killed several people.

During the attack, Hamas is said to have abducted between 150-200 hostages.

As a consequence of the dispute in the Middle East, many Americans have found themselves stranded in Israel. Glenn Beck recently announced that The Nazarene Fund was set to send its first flight overseas to rescue Americans from the war-torn area, and that there would be more flights on their way.
