ESPN analyst shocks colleague when he suddenly collapses live on air just minutes before soccer match: 'We need medical!'

ESPN soccer analyst Shaka Hislopshocked audience viewers on Sunday when he suddenly collapsed live on air.

Just minutes before a match between Real Madrid and AC Milan was set to kick off at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Hislop began shaking back and forth. Then he tumbled forward and collapsed into ESPN colleague Dan Thomas.

"Shak! Shak! We need some help!" Thomas yelled as other nearby personnel rushed to the scene. "We need medical!"

Hislop was then helped off the field, and he received medical attention, the Los Angeles Times reported.

During halftime, Thomas provided an update on Hislop's condition. He explained that Hislop was "conscious" and that his wife was aware of the situation.

"As you can see, my mate Shaka, is not here. But as it stands, it's good news," Thomas said. "He's conscious, he's talking. I think he's a little embarrassed about it all — he's apologized profusely. Not a man who likes people to make a fuss of him."

"Obviously far too early to make any sort of diagnosis," Thomas continued. "But the important thing is that Shaka’s conscious and we spoke to his family as well because you can imagine seeing that happen live? There can't be many more things that could scare you amongst the family. But fortunately, we spoke to his wife and things are looking OK."

It remains unclear what happened to Hislop. ESPN has not issued any public remarks about the incident. TheBlaze reached out to ESPN for comment, but the network did not respond.

Weather data for Pasadena shows it was not unusually hot. Though the high temperature was 91 F on Sunday, it was 86 F just minutes before the game began with humidity at a comfortable level.

Real Madrid eventually won the match, 3-2.
