Police are on a manhunt after a 7-year-old girl was kidnapped in Dallas, Texas, while she was walking with her brother to a store.
Lillie May Anderson left an apartment with her 9-year-old brother on Sunday at about noon. They were on their way to a store when they were stopped by a stranger in a car, according to police.
He allegedly offered to give them a ride to the store,, and they accepted and got into the car.
The man drove them to a Family Dollar store and, at about 12:15 p.m. asked the boy to see if it was open. When the boy got out of the car, the man drove away with his sister, according to police.
The first 911 call was made by a bystander who found the boy wandering by himself in the parking lot outside the Family Dollar store.
The boy tried to describe the man to police officers after they responded to the call.
"He kind of gave us a good description of the car he was in but he’s nine. His emotions are all over the place," said Corey Smith, a relative, to KDFW-TV. "The tears are coming down. I could tell he’s trying to stay strong."
Police issued an Amber Alert at about 6:45 p.m. for the girl to alert residents that she was missing.
On Monday at about 12:40 a.m., the girl was found walking up a sidewalk at the apartment complex where she lived by one of her neighbors. That was about six hours after police first issued an Amber Alert.
Police called off the Amber Alert and said that she was found safe. She was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
The suspect is described as a black man around 30 years old with short gray hair and driving a "gray crossover-type" vehicle. Police are asking for help from the public in identifying the suspect.
The FBI and the Secret Service are assisting the Dallas Police Department in its investigation, according to the Irving Weekly.
