VIDEO: Adam Schiff's team tries for a second day to make their case in the Trump impeachment trial

Democratic House impeachment managers are set to begin their second day of presenting the House's case in the Senate impeachment trial of President Donald Trump. The trial resumes at 1 p.m. ET. You can watch a live feed of the proceedings below once they begin.

Lead House manager Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and his team began laying out the case against Trump Wednesday. Democrats contend that the president abused his power by trying to have the Ukrainian government influence the U.S. 2020 elections by getting them to investigate Democratic presidential front-runner former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden. They also maintain that Trump obstructed Congress by ignoring or blocking subpoenas.

No new evidence or witnesses were introduced into the presentation due to the rules governing the trial.

Under the trial's organizing resolution, the House managers will have 24 hours over three days to present their case. After that time is used, the president's team will have 24 hours to make their defense.

After both sides have made their cases, senators will have 16 hours to submit questions to both the House managers and the president's defense team.

Following the time for questions, the Senate will decide whether to seek more documents from the administration or call witnesses.

Off the Senate floor, Democrats were reportedly discussing the possibility of a witness swap. Democrats toyed with the idea of letting Republicans call Hunter Biden, or maybe even Joe Biden, as a witness if they could call former national security adviser John Bolton. However, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) put the kibosh on that potential deal Wednesday.
